Sogolon Foundation was born from a simple but urgent truth: dignity is non-negotiable.
Our founder, a native of Côte d’Ivoire with years of experience in international supply chains, saw firsthand the gaps that left women and children behind. She also saw something else: power. The quiet power of women holding families together. The untapped leadership in every girl longing for education. The brilliance of grassroots resilience.
We take our name from Sogolon, the legendary mother of emperor Sundiata, whose courage, wisdom, and perseverance helped shape one of Africa’s greatest empires. She reminds us that the strength of women does not always come from the battlefield, but from the daily resolve to nurture, to guide, and to build a future.
Our work is guided by lived experience, cultural understanding, and a deep belief in justice. We’re not here to impose solutions. We’re here to amplify the ones already growing in communities across rural regions of Côte d’Ivoire.
We imagine a Côte d’Ivoire where every woman and child has access to opportunity; not as charity, but as a right. A country where girls stay in school, where women can earn a living with dignity, and where communities lead their own change.
We believe progress starts small: one classroom, one market stall, one shared meal. But together, these moments grow into movements.
Sogolon Foundation exists to help make that growth possible; by connecting resources, knowledge, and people who believe in the quiet power of everyday leadership.
Integrity: Every action reflects honesty and accountability.
Empathy: We listen before we act.
Equity: Everyone deserves the chance to rise.
We believe lasting change happens through connection. Sogolon Foundation works alongside NGOs, local businesses, and institutions that share our belief in dignity, equity, and justice.
By partnering with us, you help expand access to education, health care, legal aid, and economic empowerment for women and children in rural Côte d’Ivoire. Together, we can strengthen local leadership, scale grassroots innovations, and create sustainable impact. Whether through financial support, knowledge-sharing, or joint initiatives, your partnership helps turn possibility into progress.
We welcome volunteers both locally in Côte d’Ivoire and virtually, offering many ways to contribute your time and skills. On site, volunteers can support community programs directly; assisting with education, health initiatives, or women’s empowerment projects. Remotely, you can make just as big an impact by providing mentorship to our team, offering training sessions, guiding fundraising efforts, or lending your expertise through consulting in areas such as strategy, communications, or organizational development. Whether near or far, your involvement helps us strengthen our mission and expand opportunities for women and children.
